What a month we’ve had! After the opening of our new outdoor terrace and Gin Bar at the end of May, June has been full of busy for us and this glorious sunshine has most definitely helped. You guys are loving our new garden area and enjoying working your way through our Gin list, which offers over 50 varieties, not to mention our fantastic Cocktails. This week we also introduced the new ‘Gin Tree’, which is 12 Gin and mixers of your choice. It is the perfect group sharer and makes for the best pictures with friends. Cheers!
Last month we were sad to say goodbye to one of our supervisors, Jen. However, we have welcomed Rose and Jess up to supervisor positions, which they are taking to splendidly. Our new terrace has been a big change for our staff and sometimes I think we forget ourselves that we have only been open for 6 months (I know, right?). Just as we were finding our feet, we threw in a Gin Bar and 200 more covers in our terrace and garden, however, our staff have surely risen to the occasion, as they learn and grow every day to please our customers and perfect our service. We are also delighted to now be offering one larger menu throughout the venue, so the food you most want can be enjoyed anywhere you like. To make this possible, we have hired more kitchen staff and floor staff, so that we have enough hands and resources to provide excellent service across our (rather large) venue.
We were delighted to welcome Capital DJ, Martin Lowes to play a set for us last Saturday which went down a treat. Martin’s chilled out set turned rather rowdy when a few of you took to the tables, but it was wonderful for us to see our customers having fun in the sun and enjoying our new terrace area. Live music on the terrace is something we want to offer regularly, with the approval of our customers so if you do have any ideas or comments about this, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us through our Facebook page – we always want to know what you’re looking for when you come to our venue!
Behind the scenes, we’ve still been reaching out to improve our relationships with local producers and are always looking for new farms to partner up, within the hope of being able to offer their products on our restaurant menu. We have recently established a new relationship with Homer Hill Farm Shop, who are currently supplying our meat from local farms across the North East. From July, we are also hoping to start working with Ann Gray from Ravensworth Farm, who will be supplying our lamb. Ann is a fantastic lady who is very good at her trade. Ann has her own organic farm where she produces lamb, pigs, and beef and she is also a butcher herself, attending the local farmer’s markets to sell her products. Before opening The Woodman’s Arms, we visited Ann’s farm and went on her waiting list for lamb, so we are delighted the time has finally come to serve her produce.
